Hi, I’m Thad Beach and I’m glad you landed here on my website to see who I am!
I was born and raised in Ohio and drifted off to the North Carolina coast to attend college and get a degree in Geology. I did a lot of fishing and met some great musicians from all walks of life and we formed a band called The Clamtones. I began working with the Wilmington Arts Council playing for the senior lunch program.
I soon found my way into the NC mountains. I enjoyed playing with a lot of different musicians and learning mountain music and even shape note singing!
It was there in that I started doing residency programs in the schools throughout the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina through the Mountain Arts Program. I joined the South Carolina Arts Commission roster for Arts in Education and continued to conducting songwriting residencies for a week or two at a time while traveling to schools throughout the state.
Since then I have moved to Kansas and while raising a family, have been lucky enough to continue to write songs, make music, educate and perform at festivals, libraries and schools.
I enjoy entertaining audiences of any age, sharing my music and stories. I make a point to bring a variety of instruments and demonstrate how they are played, so audience members can be inspired to discover different kinds of music and and possibly get up to play.
There’s nothing better, as an entertainer, than seeing the smiles on people’s faces.
