Meet Thad Beach

Musician
Thad draws from a diverse background in musical styles ranging from traditional, folk, old-time,
country blues and roaring 20’s.
Instrumentalist
Thad is a versatile instrumentalist,
performing with ukulele, guitar, jaw harp, harmonica, washboard, limberjack & bucket bass.
Active Participation
Thad demonstrates how to make and play home-made instruments
from his “band in a bucket” which often culminates in a trailblazing
performance with audience members
in an impromptu band.
Audiences are encouraged to sing, respond, move, discover instruments, and become part of the experience.
Songwriter
In addition to writing songs for children and families, Thad is devoted to preserving the history, heritage and cultural aspects of rural areas through songs.
He has developed works about nature, legends, railroads, historical figures & events, the dust bowl & dirty thirties, and a wide variety of other topics.
He also creates themed musical programs for libraries each year.
Teaching Artist
Thad develops and presents programs for *preschool, *elementary, *middle and *high school classrooms on topics related to
literacy, life cycles, ecosystems,
geography and history,
ukulele and music
with an interdisciplinary approach.
He presents over 400 sessions each school year to individual classrooms.
Thad has led over 450 week-long residencies conducted in schools in several states throughout his career.
Performances
Often described as a one-man band, Thad’s concerts are dynamic, with lots of opportunities for audience participation for all ages.
He weaves his storytelling throughout his performances with lyrics, witty one-liners, incidental memoirs about song topics, song creation and related narratives.
